the ace of spades lion woke me up and said that he was unhappy with his representation...he reminded me that although he could sometimes feel melancholy, he also had a fearsome roar and a talent for balance...

the jack of clubs is a fearsome tribesman

three ladies-in-waiting follow the queen of spades closely as she gallops through the land....if the ground is muddy they lift her flowing robe....

Seven of Diamonds

the diamonds are ready to defend

King of Clubs

the king's steed is a six-footed-club-tailed-deer - who gallops tall, proud and swift through the desert plains of the club kingdom

Queen of Clubs

the queen of clubs surveys her kingdom.....
her long neck and winged stead help her keep watch for invaders...

the pack are impatient

this card is dedicated to Master Matt Saunders whose birthday it was on monday!

the three fanfares sound everytime the king of hearts enters the battlefield....

three of the rarest diamonds in the kingdom are kept round the neck of this big cat.....deadly but blind in one eye...

two clans marching.....the brave hearts and the sharp-bladed spades!

the seven knights who guard the gates to the kingdom of spades. They march with the 'spade step' in perfect uniform

King of Spades

The jack of Diamonds

jack lost one eye in a duel with the jack of spades. He managed to escape without further injury thanks to his diamond sculpted suit of armour....

Two of Hearts

these two cats are the pets of the queen. She brings them small animal hearts to play with.

Motifs

like any ruling family each suit of cards has it's own symbols. I was starting to think about the design for the back of the cards and I thought that I could perhaps incorporate these symbols into a pattern? what do you think?
