Two of Hearts

these two cats are the pets of the queen. She brings them small animal hearts to play with.

Motifs

like any ruling family each suit of cards has it's own symbols. I was starting to think about the design for the back of the cards and I thought that I could perhaps incorporate these symbols into a pattern? what do you think?

the four spade fruits hang from the beautiful spadious tree .....although they look delicious they are deadly and just one bite from their juicy flesh could be your last.....

the jack of spades has two specially trained rams.....

Three Queens

three feuding queens! the queen of hearts - the most bloodthursty, the queen of diamonds - the richest, the queen of spades - the hunter

Queen of Hearts

the queen of hearts joins her clan....

The Queen of Spades

the hunter queen gallops through the land armed only with her wits and a sharp spear....

Two of Spades

the first of the spades....these two warriors use spade shaped blades that they can throw with precision at any target....

The King of Hearts

the king sits atop his lion-hearted stead....

Four of Diamonds

these small theives steal diamonds - which they hoard in their burrows. If the diamonds are especially small they conceal them in their cheeks....

Ten of Clubs

This card is dedicated to Ben Mounsey on his birthday. Ben is very talented and a tip-top chap http://www.greenglasses.co.uk/

These ten birds sit upon the branches of the club-leaf tree on the lower forest floor. The spades sometimes try to capture them to make cloaks from their feathers....but mostly they are left to quietly survey the land...

Two of Diamonds

These two hounds are specially trained to pick up precious fragments of diamonds that are littered across the clan's territory.

Ace of Clubs

The ace of clubs was the last of his kind and was captured by the cruel king of clubs. His most prominent feature is his 'club' right ear.

The Queen of Diamonds

The Diamonds are a sharp tongued, rich clan. Legend has it that they live atop a huge diamond which is guarded with a ring of dagger-toothed wolves...

Ace of Hearts

This is the solitary lesser-spotted ace of hearts. He lives on windy mountain ranges and is hunted by the spade and club clans who feast upon his large red heart.

Jack of Hearts

Jack of Hearts.....poor Jack always seems to be squashed under the King and Queen...so I thought it was time he was shuffled to the front of the pack...
